With pan 0.12.0, only libxml2 and gtk-2 are necessary, but the ebuild  still 
has dependencies on libgnome and glib.  This causes spurious downloads and 
builds for KDE or fvwm users who just want pan.  I removed the libgnome and 
glib dependencies, and pan built and ran like a champ.

more info.  Apologies if this is a known issue.

Debloated :) but glib is still there because gtk depends on it.
