Trying 

cd /usr/portage
./scripts/ecopy net-fs/samba

results in these errors....

./scripts/ecopy: eval: line 128: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `)'
./scripts/ecopy: eval: line 129: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Probably not worth fixing since it is a best-effort script anyway. Patches considered.
