Some things i found while testing this, (did not try a full install though, just burned the cd and booted) Setup: Dual 2gig Athlon MP, 1 gig Mem, 5 ide drives, NVidia Geforce4 1/ I find, The initial boot splash screen is not very nice to the eye's, to light a blue, the "wave" tailing the Gentoo Logo make's the screen appear distorted from left to right ( very icky on the eye's!) it also does not scale very well on a 19" Monitor, i get "verticle" streching here, or "banding marks" and as i mentioned the colour's are just too light, very hard too look at. I also prefer the previous 1.4 Boot logo, that is a very nice logo to have out front for booting. Very easy on the eye's. 2/ The booting seemed to recognize all my hardware no problem 3/ On rebooting, it runs through the shutdown bit's ie: Stopping local Stopping metalog Syncing Hardware Clock... Saving Random Seed ..... INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel after reaching this point it just stop's, meaning it does no crash the machine, i still have keyboard control, but the reboot does not proceed any farther than this point, "ctrl alt delete" does not work after this either. I left it for a couple minute's before reseting the machine. I've tried this 3 times with the same effect. That's about it for now. Cheers David
Thank you for your testing work. Since we need to involve our optics, we chose a new logo. We will stay with this new one since it doesn't affect the functionality of the cd ;) The other bug regarding the inability to halt/shutdown is already known. Because of all this points, I am closing this bug :)
