app-text/jadetex ebuild states that the license is freedist. jadetex.dtx file contains the standard BSD license. While it is a bad idea not to have a separate COPYING file, we can probably assume that the whole jadetex is licensed under BSD. That is what Debian does (see http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/j/jadetex/jadetex_3.13-12/jadetex.copyright)
