Description Joseph 2012-01-05 01:20:23 UTC
After installing "flpsed" (ps/pdf) annotator (Pseudo PostScript editor)
I noticed that when trying to annotate a PS or PDF file the fonts don't scale at all on the screen, they remain at a fixed size (the smallest one) 8pts I think.

The fonts on the the menus seems to me very small and not smooth (hard to read).
I'm using ver. flpsed-0.5.1

I just installed Ubuntu in VirtualBox and flpsed and the font menu looks perfect, much larger and easy to read, and the fonts scale perfectly on the screen.

I'm using this application to annotate (complete) pdf forms so it is important that I see hwo the fonts align on the paper.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Joseph 2012-01-05 01:30:39 UTC
I just tried version: flpsed-0.6.1
And the fonts scale OK but as soon as I try to zoom IN to any larger size the document, pdf or ps (to make it larger) it crashed without any message.
The only thing I get is:

Segmentation fault

When I try to change the font size to larger one the menu on top and side disappears
Comment 2 Joseph 2012-01-05 01:37:20 UTC
flpsed-0.7.0 act in the same way.
Comment 3 Joseph 2012-01-05 02:27:42 UTC
The strange part is that I have the same packages (same versions) installed on
both systems:
* dependency graph for app-text/flpsed-0.5.1
 `-- app-text/flpsed-0.5.1 amd64
   `-- x11-libs/libX11-1.4.4 (x11-libs/libX11) amd64
   `-- x11-libs/libXext-1.3.0 (x11-libs/libXext) amd64
   `-- x11-libs/libXft-2.2.0 (x11-libs/libXft) amd64
   `-- x11-libs/fltk-1.1.10-r2 (x11-libs/fltk) amd64
   `-- app-text/ghostscript-gpl-9.04-r4 (app-text/ghostscript-gpl) amd64

Both systems are "amd64" on one flpsed font scaling works OK on the other one it doesn't.

flpsed 24 size font ???

This is a screen shot of flpsed composer 24 size font ???
It looks more like 8 size
Comment 5 Joseph 2012-01-07 02:33:23 UTC
I've upgraded to flpsed + fltk-1.3.0 and flpsed is not crashing but font scaling situation did not change; fonts don't scale and are small.

How to trouble shoot it?
Comment 6 Joseph 2012-01-19 14:32:38 UTC
flpsed is depended on "FL_HELVETICA"

I'm not sure which font package install HELVETICA font (definitely not Xorg), maybe:
media-fonts/liberation-fonts

After installing several fonts including: liberation-fonts
scalling start working OK.
