maybe a dep should be added?

as it isnt a mandatory option of the kernel, and hopefully, quite soon, we will " kernel-ify" ucl meaning this dependancy isnt required.
I find it hard to justify the dependancy for a soft module.
That being said however, there is a postinst message which mentions how you are required to install the ucl package from portage.

hope no offence is taken, and your most welcome to re-open this bug if you disagree.

[*]   Select only drivers that don't need compile-time external firmware

Surely the sensible thing to do here is make this option affect whether or not
UCL is "selectable" later on in the config or not...

Of course,
a) I don't know if this is possible
b) it'd be a pain going through all the kernel ebuilds patching it
c) the message at the end of the emerge is probably sufficient
d) people would probably start complaining when they don't "see" the UCL option,
and wonder where it is.
