awesfx has been updated to version 0.5.0 two days ago. The most important change is the addition of asfxload. It does the same as the still included sfxload (load SoundFonts), but uses ALSA directly. The new version makes a static version of libawe only, but that might not be a problem, since I couldn't find any package dependent on awesfx.
Created attachment 24587 [details] ebuild i rewrote the ebuild, since awesfx changed the make system
Created attachment 24626 [details] ebuild v2 I updated the ebuild, so that only asfxload is linked against libasound.so.
Created attachment 24744 [details] ebuild v3 the third try this time with the option to disable alsa (and asfxload) completely using the alsa use flag. It's probably not a nice way to do it, but it seems to work.
Created attachment 25019 [details] ebuild v.4 and number 4 this one uses the newly released awesfx-0.5.0a, which fixes minor things.
The 0.5.0a ebuild works fine for me. I'm finally able to get soundfonts working again with alsa under linux 2.6.2.
