Octave without -doc should not require any latex, such as dev-texlive/texlive-genericrecommended-2010. Gnuplot should be subjected to a gnupluot USE flag. qrupdate should be subjected to a qrupdate USE flag. Further, I propose that other things such as graphicsmagick are subjected to USE flags such as, say, "image". Reproducible: Always
