Comment 4 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-12-31 18:56:58 UTC
Looks like a crash in r600_dri.so in media-libs/mesa. Reassigning to x11 team.
Comment 5 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-01-01 12:19:16 UTC
Does this happen with both r600 classic and gallium drivers (when selected with "eselect mesa")?
Comment 6 Foad Nosrati Habibi 2012-01-01 16:05:45 UTC
It only happens for classic, gallium works fine.
Comment 7 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-01-01 19:49:57 UTC
I will leave this bug open in case other users hit this bug, but it probably will not be fixed. The r600 classic driver is already removed from upstream git and will not be part of mesa-7.12.
Comment 8 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-01 21:59:47 UTC
Note that the gnome-3 upgrade guide[1] already states that gnome-shell needs open-source ATI drivers to be in gallium mode. This information has now also been added to a pkg_postinst() message in the gnome-shell ebuild to make it more prominent.

Is this still happening, is there anything else gnome team can do other than document the issue ?

I don't think there's anything to do, since r600c is dead.
Comment 11 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-12-28 20:09:49 UTC
Alright, closing then. Thanks all.
