Description Petr Šabata 2011-12-31 11:12:55 UTC
I've just installed newsbeuter on my system and it fails to start due to the following:

newsbeuter: error while loading shared libraries: libstfl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libstfl is a dependency and it's installed. The problem is newsbeuter should use libstfl.so.0.21:

/usr/lib64/libstfl.so -> libstfl.so.0.21
/usr/lib64/libstfl.so.0.21

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge newsbeuter
2. newsbeuter
Actual Results:
newsbeuter: error while loading shared libraries: libstfl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
newsbeuter runs

emerge --info:

I forgot to mention the versions:

dev-libs/stfl-0.21
net-news/newsbeuter-2.4
Comment 2 Agostino Sarubbo gentoo-dev 2011-12-31 11:15:46 UTC
emerge -1 libstfl changes anything?
Comment 3 Petr Šabata 2011-12-31 12:22:39 UTC
(In reply to comment #2)
> emerge -1 libstfl changes anything?

Nope, it just reinstalls libstfl.so.0.21 and libstfl.so symlink to it. Nothing magical. It could possibly install libstfl.so.0 symlink (which solves the problem here) but I think this should be fixed in newsbeuter.
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-12-31 17:23:06 UTC
Looks like version 0.22 does it right. Time to stabilise?
Comment 5 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2012-01-15 16:54:36 UTC
Should be fixed in 0.22.
