When booting off of the gentoo-2004.0-x86-20040121 livecd, and booting with "experimental doscsi", i get the following errors:

cat: /etc/modules/MY_HWOPTS: No such file or directory
---- Scanning for sd_mod...no such module found
---- Scanning for sg...no such module found
---- Scanning for sr_mod...no such module found

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from gentoo-2004.0-x86-20040121 livecd
2. type "experimental doscsi" at the boot prompt

I also have the same issue with the 'Gentoo 1.4 Live - Pentium 4 - CD1 ( 20030911 )' But When I tried the stagex Ithen cannot boot properly the linux system.
Here is what is happening:
The aic7xxx detects correctly my two scsi devices (conner and a scanner GT50000) then it launches (god knows why) the aic7xxx_old and there it loops endlessly - seems to report on the screen ("there is a loop reference in the list")
Well this issue is blocker to me as I would really like to install gentoo on my machine but thanks to the aic7xxx_old I am not able to boot then...

The issue is also reproducable when you start the cd with the 'doscsi' argument.

SCSI is build into this kernel and this not actually a bug, it's just a not documented feature.
Comment 3 Bob Johnson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-30 04:02:35 UTC
dont know why scsi being in the kernel makes this ok.

aix7xxx_old is a real problem on all cds a work around is needed,
or just dont support it at all

does the 2004.0 cd work for you?
