Is there anyone?
Comment 2 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-01-06 11:52:09 UTC
There is not much we can do about this bug. See if it was already reported upstream on bugs.freedesktop.org and if not, open a bug there.
If you provide a link to the bug report here, we will consider backporting any patches that are needed.
Comment 3 b1254633 2012-01-06 23:53:32 UTC
ok. Thanks!
Comment 4 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-09-03 09:34:47 UTC
Is this still an issue with xf86-video-intel-2.20.6?
Comment 5 Bill Kenworthy 2012-09-12 22:26:17 UTC
Yes, still there with versions up to 2.20.7 (has been happening since I upgraded to gnome3 and x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.17.0-r3 - on changing to to LXDE matters improved but its only with the version 2.20.7 I can last a full day without having to log out/backin to clear the display of artifacts.

Each version gets a little better though.

Hibernate/resume always triggers it, but by the end of a normal days work I usually have to log out to get a readable screen even without hibernate. For some reason, the background wallpaper on LXDE is very prone, and some fonts seem more prone than others (i.e., you can change fonts in FF and change the severity.)

see http://wdk.ddns.info/lxde-logo.png for a "mild" effect.

Which kernel version are you now using? If you have not already done so, upgrade to newest stable. Which window manager are you using?

Try adding debug use flag locally:
-IUSE="glamor +sna uxa xvmc"
+IUSE="debug glamor +sna uxa xvmc"

and in src_configure to use it:

 src_configure() {
 	XORG_CONFIGURE_OPTIONS=(
+		$(use_enable debug)
 		$(use_enable dri)
 		$(use_enable glamor)
 		$(use_enable sna)

and then compile with debug enabled:
USE="debug" emerge -1 xf86-video-intel

Try to reproduce the issue and add the compressed Xorg.0.log file.
Comment 7 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-11-28 20:35:03 UTC
Please try with the latest ~arch ebuild (2.20.14 as of today) and let us know if you still have issues. If so, please open a bug report upstream [1] like Chí-Thanh requested in comment #2.

Thanks
