Recently, some older ebuilds have been cleaned out of portage: media-sound/xmms-1.2.7-r20 sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.1_rc1 However, the removal of these ebuilds left no ebuilds for these packages marked _stable_ on AMD64. The result is an error message that portage cannot resolve the dependencies. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
It seems that the xmms problem has been resolved, but there is still a problem with sys-kernel/development-sources. Basically, it there is _NO_ version of the development-sources kernel (the only 2.6 vanilla tree) that is marked stable at the moment on amd64 -- they're all marked ~amd64. Any way we can get one of these marked stable? I really don't want to have to emerge gentoo-dev-sources just to be able to update my system without dependency problems.
this should be closed by now
Why should this be closed? I still don't show any version of development-sources marked stable on amd64. packages.gentoo.org doesn't show any either. So when I go to do an update, I get dependency issues: Calculating dependencies !!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "development-sources" have been masked. !!! possible candidates are: - sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.2 (masked by: ~keyword) - sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.1 (masked by: ~keyword) - sys-kernel/development-sources-2.6.3 (masked by: ~keyword) !!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct. I really don't want to have to run my whole system as ~amd64, and I don't want to have to install gentoo-dev-sources just to fix the problem either. Are there serious issues keeping even _one_ version of the development-sources from being marked stable? I also need to add that I now have problems from app-cdr/cdrdao, see bug: 42594 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42594
we DO NOT SUPPORT development-sources on amd64 use gentoo-dev-sources
Oh, ok. Good to know. Thanks for clearing that up.
