Description Andrew Udvare 2011-12-21 12:33:22 UTC
I don't have a LINGUAS variable or linguas_* CFLAGS set for app-text/ghostscript-gpl.

emerge --depclean always presents these fonts for removal:
>>> These are the packages that would be unmerged:

Then, a revdep-rebuild shows no problems.
emerge -auvDN world brings these back up for installation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. LINGUAS="" USE="cups" emerge =app-text/ghostscript-gpl-9.04-r4
2. emerge --depclean
3. revdep-rebuild # all ok
4. emerge -auvDN world
Actual Results:
emerge -auvDN world wants these fonts to be installed.

Expected Results:
emerge -auvDN world should present nothing since everything is up to date and all packages are fine.

Please run emerge depclean to get rid of the fonts once again and then attach the output of:

emerge ghostscript-gpl -pvt

# emerge ghostscript-gpl -pvt

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] app-text/ghostscript-gpl-9.04-r4 USE="cups -X -bindist -dbus -djvu -gtk -idn -jpeg2k -static-libs" LINGUAS="-ja -ko -zh_CN -zh_TW" 29,178 kB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 29,178 kB

I think it's not ghostscript after all. But I am not sure what it is then. I don't see why anything would really need a specific font to work.

Comment 3 Andrew Udvare 2011-12-21 16:37:51 UTC
Figured it out. It wasn't ghostscript. It was cairo and gdk-pixbuf with the X USE flag.

For some reason I had these in my /etc/portage/package.use:
x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf X
x11-libs/cairo X

Removed and emerge -auvDN world gives what I expect:
