Description Mike Bordon 2004-01-26 21:09:47 UTC
Upon loading of the Live CD, I typed "acpi dopcmcia" and there were a few error messages about ACPI modules not loading correctly. I didn't really think anything of it, but during kernel compilation by computer overheated.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. acpi dopcmcia
2. Use high CPU resources

Actual Results:
My computer shut itself down and wouldn't power back up properly for a few
minutes.

Expected Results:
Loaded the proper ACPI modules (???) or loaded the APM modules if ACPI wasn't
available.

Still present with the final 2004.0 Install-CD ?
Comment 2 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-24 18:54:06 UTC
the acpi or apm options are not available on the 2004.0 livecds because they are automatically detected.
Comment 3 Bob Johnson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-24 19:53:27 UTC
Zhen, curious where they are automatically detected at?
Nothing in the runtime i created (autoconfig) does this.

I assumed that this was all taken care of in the kernel, but I could be wrong. Perhaps we are missing some options then?
