19:41 < esammer> SwifT: while we've got you, do you think you could work some docs on g-cpan into *something?* th eamount of "please add this perl ebuild" bugs we get is outrageous TODO'ed
I'll write up a small manpage on g-cpan and perhaps a small article for GWN.
Created attachment 26405 [details] g-cpan.pl.1 man page Manpage for g-cpan.pl
Created attachment 26406 [details] Fixed version Better title
Okay; when the manpage is available I'll add a note to the ebuild submission howto and refer to g-cpan.pl with the silent hint to rtfm :)
manpage cleaned up and added to portage cvs ... next release of portage will have it
Created attachment 26706 [details, diff] Patch to ebuild-submit.xml This adds a section to the ebuild-submit.xml guide which reads: """ Don't Submit CPAN Ebuilds Portage provides a tool called g-cpan.pl which installs a given CPAN module on your Gentoo system using Portage, storing the necessary information (such as dependencies, provided files, etc.) in the Portage database, just like it would when you install an ebuild. It is therefore not needed (nor recommended) to submit CPAN ebuilds. For more information on g-cpan.pl, please consult its man page. """ Would this be sufficient?
Document updated.
