From `emerge -s soup`: * net-libs/libsoup Latest version available: 1.99.26-r1 Latest version installed: 1.99.26-r1 Size of downloaded files: 227 kB Homepage: http://www.gnome.org/ Description: Soup is a SOAP implementation * net-libs/soup Latest version available: 0.7.11 Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ] Size of downloaded files: 316 kB Homepage: http://www.gnome.org/ Description: Soup is a SOAP implementation Both ebuilds have "Soup is a SOAP implementation" descriptions. I think those descriptions should be more accurate, different atleast. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Suggest something better ? They are the same thing, only libsoup is more evolved and glib2 based. I personally think version information does not belong in a description, it would be redundant : the deps sais all. I suggest we close this INVALID ?
i think the descriptions are pretty accurate in themselves. they've both the same thing, just for different versions. the RPM descriptions are the same from ximian as well.
The current description doesn't say what soup is. I suggest following: "A Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) implementation" for both ebuilds.
