Description Michael Sullivan 2011-12-11 21:07:08 UTC
Any time I try to play a video file ANYWHERE I get sound and a blank video screen. As far as I can tell, this is caused by the following 4 lines in my Xorg.0.log file:

[709276.978] (EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.
[709276.978] (EE) intel(0): When reporting this, please include i915_error_state from debugfs and the full dmesg.
[709400.134] (EE) intel(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: drawable has no back or front?
[709402.052] (EE) intel(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: drawable has no back or front?

I have run the qlist command at the end of xorg-server merge and remerged all packages it returned. This error does not pop up until I try to use video.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Restart Xorg
2. Open something that uses video (mplayer, mythfrontend, etc etc)
3.
Actual Results:
I get sound, but no video

Expected Results:
I should get video as well as sound

dmesg output from just after the error
Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-12-11 23:41:11 UTC
debugfs is a file system that may or may not be mounted on your system - you'd have to figure that out. Attaching a larger part of the Xorg log might help here, as well as more output from dmesg (what you already attached certainly didn't help).

You also didn't explain what command you ran to display what kind of video/audio from what kind of source.

Please gather in this report the information requested above so we get a more complete picture of the nature and probably cause of the problem you are seeing, and then reopen the bug report.
Comment 3 Michael Sullivan 2011-12-11 23:43:06 UTC
I rebuilt my kernel with the same kernel options as before and rebooted the system. Now everything seems to work for me. I think something was/is writing over some of my kernel modules, but rebuilding the kernel and rebooting seems to have fixed it. For now...
