During the configure stage of an 'emerge gnome-panel':

checking for intltool >= 0.21... 0.29 found
checking for perl... /usr/bin/perl
configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool

!!! econf failed

'emerge XML-Parser; emerge gnome-panel' fixes the problem.

I don't see intltool 0.29 in portage... are you using BMG ebuilds ?

intltool 0.30 is in portage now, this bug can be closed.
