Today I have upgraded digikam from 1.9 up to 2.4.1  

I use MySQL database. When starting digikam prints

QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is still in
use, all queries will cease to work.
digikam(14004)/digikam (core): Schema update to V6 failed! 

and finally I obtain empty albums.

digikam-2 has entered stable and many user can suffer

Unfortunately, we can't do very much but track the upstream bug...

I fear it makes not much sense to keep this bug open... there is not much we can do. It's reported to the digikam devs and they are aware of the problem...
