Description Jóhann Helgi Agnarsson 2004-01-25 06:17:38 UTC
After Emerging kde 3.2 RC1(just qt, arts, kdelibs and kdebase) I start konqueror and open our local news site. Konqueror loads the page and then seems to get stuck in some kind of popup loop, it keeps popping up the same web page over and over in a new window.
I'll include a strace of the konqueror process from start until i close it.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u world
2. emerge arts-1.2.0_rc1
3. emerge kdelibs-3.2.0_rc1
4. emerge kdebase-3.2.0_rc1
5. start kde, start konqueror and open http://www.mbl.is

Actual Results:
Konqueror keeps opening the page in a new window until closed or killed.
Doesn't crash anything though.

Expected Results:
Just load the webpage, not load the webpage multiple times.

Strace of Konqueror process while reproducing the bug

gzipped because of filesize(3.5mb)

The page seems to load correctly for me (I cannot actually understand the contents) and I don't have any problems with it. I must not though that I did disable cookies. You might want to report this to bugs.kde.org as it does not seem to be gentoo related.
Comment 3 Jason Stubbs (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-25 07:51:45 UTC
on dialup so couldn't test properly but the konqueror icon was spinning after the page fully loaded. As a work around, limiting Javascript (Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Java & JavaScript -> JavaScript -> Open new windows -> Smart) fixes it. Can you or somebody check the source to see if it's the site's bug?
Comment 4 Jóhann Helgi Agnarsson 2004-01-25 15:32:06 UTC
I enabled Smart for "Open New Windows" but that didn't fix the problem. About it being the site code, I don't know of any browser that has showed this behavior and actually I think konqueror never had problems with this site earlier. Going to try a different version of konqueror later tonight.
Comment 5 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-05-26 09:08:27 UTC
if the problem persists, please file a report with the konqueror devs at bugs.kde.org as they will be interested to know if there's a problem.
