Description Joel de Vahl 2004-01-25 06:00:05 UTC
The alsa driver uncluded in newer versions of the kernel (>=2.6.1 ???) results in strange looped noises on a ice1712 device. I found a patch that solves this when applied to a vanilla kernel and I would like to have this patch merged into gentoo-dev-sources.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gentoo-dev-sources
2. configure and restart ALSA

Actual Results:
Noise when the device is used

Expected Results:
Played some sounds

I have an Audiophile 24/96 which uses the ice1712-chip

workaround from the ALSA-ftp

This is a patch from the alsa-project's ftp.
It fixes the problem when applied to 2.6.1 and 2.6.2-rc1

Closing the bug you report that this is fixed in gentoo-dev-sources-rc1: if you still get this, please reopen the bug.
