Description Alec Warner (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2011-12-06 08:59:11 UTC
The story is that I use konsole as the only KDE app and it snags in Kdelibs and phonon. Phonon wants one of gstreamer, vlc, xine, or aqua. I use mplayer for all my media needs and I don't really want to install vlc or gstreamer.

So my question: is it possible to use phonon without any of these?

Use the konsole with backend or not use at all

[19:47:33] <dilfridge> question... is it possible to run kde with phonon and no backend library?
[19:47:43] <dilfridge> (I'm not asking wheter it makes sense... :)
[19:48:23] <dilfridge> i.e. is "at least one backend library" a hard dependency?
[19:54:19] <sandsmark> yes
[19:54:30] <sandsmark> at least until we start shipping with the null-backend
[19:54:39] <dilfridge> ok
[19:54:59] <dilfridge> means I can resolve another bug (as cantfix, but resolve nevertheless :)
[19:55:05] <dilfridge> thanks!
