gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-3.2.2 was built with the following:
USE="doc gnome-online-accounts introspection ipv6 kerberos ldap (multilib) ssl weather -test -vala"

[ebuild R ] gnome-extra/evolution-data-server-3.2.2 USE="doc gnome-online-accounts introspection ipv6 kerberos ldap weather -test -vala (-ssl%*)"
Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2011-12-03 18:47:27 UTC
Attach build log with V=1 and check config.log for obvious problems.
Comment 2 Markus Wernig 2011-12-03 18:52:22 UTC
The same happens with gnome-base/gconf and mail-client/evolution (same errors).

The only way I found to build them was to put "-ldap" in the USE flags. But
this is not The Right Way (tm).
Comment 3 Markus Wernig 2011-12-03 19:02:52 UTC
I'm not sure if this is related, but shortly before the problems came up, I had rebuilt openldap with "-minimal" (i.e. minimal disabled, so I'd get the server binaries)
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-12-04 05:24:57 UTC
Please attach the entire build log to this bug report. (Why do you need to be asked so often anyway?)
Comment 5 Markus Wernig 2011-12-04 09:50:17 UTC
I am not the OP, but since I get the same errors, I will attach my own emerge --info output and build.log, fwiw.

config.log shows that there seems to be a problem with libldap.so (DUH):

openldap has been built with SASL support, though:

# equery u openldap

[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
 * Found these USE flags for net-nds/openldap-2.4.25-r1:
 U I
+ + berkdb : Adds support for sys-libs/db (Berkeley DB for MySQL)
+ + crypt : Add support for encryption -- using mcrypt or gpg where applicable
 - - cxx : Builds support for C++ (bindings, extra libraries, code generation, ...)
 - - debug : Enable extra debug codepaths, like asserts and extra output. If you want to get meaningful backtraces see
                     http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
 - - experimental : Enable experimental backend options

 - - odbc : Enable ODBC and SQL backend options
 - - overlays : Enable contributed OpenLDAP overlays
+ + perl : Adds optional support/bindings for the Perl language

Comment 9 Markus Wernig 2011-12-04 10:18:47 UTC
So it seems that libldap was linked against a different libsasl than the one currently present.

Remerging openldap should solve the problem ... and indeed it does.
Comment 10 Juergen Rose 2011-12-04 10:44:24 UTC
The issue disappeared after reemergeing openldap with USE=-cxx.
Comment 11 Rafał Mużyło 2011-12-05 14:38:45 UTC
The explanation of this problem is in bug 393229 coment 2.
