Description Marco Leogrande 2011-11-28 18:11:56 UTC
Rsync server mirror.opteamax.de, or 194.62.23.99 (that is inside the rsync.europe.gentoo.org DNS rotation) seems to be out of date.

Even if the timestamp.chk file is updated...

# cat '/usr/portage/metadata/timestamp.chk'
Mon, 28 Nov 2011 16:45:01 +0000

... the ebuild tree is old! I.e. see sys-apps/portage after updating from that mirror:

# ls -l /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage
totale 216

Several updates are missing.

Of course if I sync again and I pick another server from the rsync.europe.gentoo.org rotation, everything is fine.

I forgot to add that, even if I am reporting the issue today because I noticed about that right now, I encountered the same problem with the same server a couple of days ago, but at that time I thought that the issue was on my side.

Jens, can you look at this?
Comment 3 Jens Ott 2011-12-08 20:06:53 UTC
Hi,

sorry for delay. It seems that masterportage.gentoo.org does not work correctly on V6. I can Ping and trace the node, but rsync runs into timeout.

I changed my side to use V4 for now, please check your end and keep me informed as soon as V6-Rsync is back to normal.

No known problems with IPv6, my personal host uses v6 every 30 mins.

Hi,

server is about to be back to normal operation. If you might have noticed machine was unavailable for couple of days due to a broken storage-controler. Controller has just been changed, Portage is already back to normal, distfile-sync is running.

IPv6 seems to work again, unfortunately sync-speed is not really high (~10mbit :( )
