This is for the recent release of DHCP Server! When i start the server the server would not start unless i had a DDNS-UPDATE(not sure of exact flag name) flag, the problem that agrivated me a little bit was the /etc/init.d/dhcp start/stop script, it started fine after i added the correct modules into the kernel, but it would not stop at all. The start section had on thing, there is no -pf flag in dhcpd program to make a pid file, i attempted to do a --pidfile for the start-stop-daemon but that didnt write to it either. There was no pid file in the regular location specified or in the chroot jail for dhcp. Permissions were all correct DHCP:DHCP. the stop script was looking for the pid file which didn't exist, so i added the --exec argument and added the location of the dhcpd binary, and the script worked fine after that! Dont know if this could help you out, but for any questions email me gary@oppel.us Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: The software should have stopped when the /etc/init.d/dhcp stop command was given, instead of it telling me [ok] it said [!!] and the process still ran! No programs were running but the HOST-AP Driver for linux!
I'm sorry, I don't follow. The current dhcp startup script has --exec /usr/sbin/dhcpd. It also has -pf to generate the .pid file which works fine. What is the problem? Please attach any relavant information. For starters, your emerge --info output. Also, the exact version of dhcp that is causing problems, and the script in question. Thanks.
