I can't boot from the beta amd64 livecd. It seems to hang on hardware detection but I can't be sure as I can't even get into verbose mode (I don't even get the "Press F2 for verbose mode" message on the splash screen). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.try to boot using "gentoo idle=poll" 2. 3. Actual Results: System hangs on splash screen and doesn't do anything Expected Results: System should have booted
what's your hardware, and also, boot using nofb idle=poll instead. Please be very specific on hardware, also, please note MANY people are having problems with RAM incompatabilities with amd64, so you may want to boot with the 'memtest' option instead of gentoo or nofb, just to test your memory. You should let it run overnight. Let us know.
Few finally got it working ! For the record, I had to boot using : nofb idle=poll nousb, and I had to disable Legacy USB Device in my BIOS Here's my exact hardware : Laptop Medion MD-40653 Athlon 64 3000+ 512MB DDR-PC2700 Samsung ATI Radeon 9600 Mobile 64MB 60GB Hard drive DVD+RW AMD K8 Northbridge VIA VT8235 Southbridge Firewire Controler : Ricoh Co Ltd R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller Ethernet Controler : Broadcom Corporation BCM4401 100Base-T Wifi Controler : Harris Semiconductor D-Links DWL-g650 A1 CardBus bridge : Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II
