After installation (emerge gcdemu), all the image of any non encrypted DVD plays fine, but those of encrypted DVD are played not decrypted. Playing the DVD through a HW DD reader is fine. Does not depends of the particular DVD region. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install gcdemu-1.4.0 2. Play the image of an encrypted DVD 3. Actual Results: The DVD is payed but with garbled image and sound. Expected Results: The DVD plays fine as through a HW DVD reader. This behavior could be due to the limitation of the DVD reader emulation, which does not take properly into account the DVD region part, leaving the stack always supposing that the DVD is unencrypted.

What command did you use to create the image of the encrypted DVD?
The command is always the following, from a user terminal: dd if=/dev/sr0 of=/usr/local/share/.../name.iso bs=2048 The command ends correctly.
Confirmed. I have sent an email to the upstream developers' mailing list asking whether this is a bug, a feature, or whether an additional step is required for playing back encrypted video dvd images; let's see what they reply.
Upstream reply: > At the moment, at least some parts of that functionality are > unimplemented - mostly because so far nobody has expressed interest in it. > > I'll take a look at it when I find some time, though that likely won't > be before the end of the year... So, this feature is not supported yet, but it might appear in future versions of cdemu/gcdemu.
With reference to the mailinglist thread, I would like to point out that there is a chance a disc image made this way from a _scrambled_ disc will be corrupted. To make backups of video DVDs I suggest a ripping tool. http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=CAN0LGrFwhUs-HzvgYv7Zi%2BskspgjtQ47UvPVpZbtJubwiWK8gw%40mail.gmail.com&forum_name=cdemu-devel
This feature should be supported in cdemud-1.5.0 and gcdemu-1.5.0 (when choosing an image to mount, click on "extra options" in the open file dialog and select "raw image of css-encrypted dvd").
(In reply to comment #7) > This feature should be supported in cdemud-1.5.0 and gcdemu-1.5.0 (when > choosing an image to mount, click on "extra options" in the open file dialog > and select "raw image of css-encrypted dvd"). This feature is working fine. I am bit late, but thanks for your support!
