Description andrijm 2011-11-20 22:34:45 UTC
After emerge-ing sys-devel/autoconf-2.68 cannot emerge sys-devel/automake. Problem resolved by creating two symbolic links:
ln -s /usr/bin/autoconf-2.68 /usr/bin/autoconf
ln -s /usr/bin/autom4te-2.68 /usr/bin/autom4te
All actions was done from chrooted environment in process of Gentoo installing

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge automake (no need to emerge autoconf, it finished with success)

Actual Results:
620 of 639 tests failed
ERROR: sys-devel/automake-1.11.1-r1 failed (test phase)

Expected Results:
successful automake installation
Comment 1 andrijm 2011-11-20 23:39:18 UTC
Still 7 test failed. A third symlink needed:
ln -s /usr/bin/autoheader-2.68 /usr/bin/autoheader
This time automake is finally installed. But I think other programs may need autoscan-2.68, autoupdate-2.68, autoreconf-2.68 and ifnames-2.68 also symlinked

Please post your `emerge --info' output too.

1) Please attach the sys-devel/automake build log in question.
2) Also, remove FEATURES=strict since that causes your emerge runs to abort on test suite failures. This shouldn't be fatal, so you shouldn't use FEATURES=strict.

autoconf build log

The original build log was not preserved because of successful emerge-ing, so i did reinstall:
# FEATURES="-strict" emerge =autoconf-2.68 >autoconf.log
In result, such files in /usr/bin/ with version number as autoconf-2.68 was updated, but files (symlinks) without it remains untouched. What is surprising for me, /usr/bin/autoconf points now to ../lib/misc/ac-wrapper.sh. I have no idea which ebuild changed it
Comment 6 andrijm 2011-11-22 23:39:40 UTC
Excuse me please, I am inattentive. What about automake log, should I remove /usr/bin/autoconf symlink and others before the automake reinstalling? Automake build log with errors also not preserved because of final successful emerge-img and I did no backup
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2011-11-26 08:18:52 UTC
why do you not have automake-wrapper and autoconf-wrapper installed ?
