Description Stephan Hurler 2004-01-22 14:28:15 UTC
During a stage 1 install on my Miata PWS500, emerge system aborts after trying to configure autoconf-2.58 and not finding perl installed. 'emerge perl' doesn't solve it, as perl needs autoconf to be built.
Happened on both my attempts, once with the stage1 tarball v1.4-r1, the second time with the experimental 20030729 tarball, both times unsing the last working liveCD (-test4)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start installation following the gentoo handbook, stage1
2. 'emerge system' when supposed to, and wait for it to abort
Actual Results:
The configure script for autoconf-2.58 errors out saying perl is not installed
and emerge aborts, returning to the shell.

Expected Results:
'emerge system' should have succeeded.

Currently no verbatim output from emerge, as the box was switched off and it
takes about a day to get to the point of failure. If needed, I'll run through
the whole process again to get the output.
