Description Daniel Rozsnyo 2011-11-14 07:21:28 UTC
Hello,
since I installed Thunderbird 7.0, and now in 8.0 too, I am experiencing application crash, with the following message:

$ thunderbird
failed to create drawable
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0".
###!!! ABORT: X_SetClipRectangles: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes); 87 requests ago: file /dev/shm/portage/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-8.0/work/comm-release/mozilla/toolkit/xre/nsX11ErrorHandler.cpp, line 199
###!!! ABORT: X_SetClipRectangles: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes); 87 requests ago: file /dev/shm/portage/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-8.0/work/comm-release/mozilla/toolkit/xre/nsX11ErrorHandler.cpp, line 199
Segmentation fault

My way to reproduce the crash is to run Thunderbird, click "Write" (new email) and when I click to the message body area, the application will crash.

Sometimes it crashes instantly - I think when a new email is present on the first account.

Please do not change severity of a bug without first consulting with mozilla team. A single person with an issue does not warrant a critical bug report by any means.
Comment 2 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2011-11-14 23:42:14 UTC
Sorry for the noise but also please attach emerge --info to all bug reports.
Comment 3 Daniel Rozsnyo 2011-11-15 04:50:39 UTC
Sorry for the critical, here is the info (I did an update, new kernel, reboot, and when the bug remained I reported it), now I am using thunderbird 3.1.14 which is the only lower than 7.0 version in portage. And it is not having this bug.

Now I have nearly permanent errors from Firefox 8.0:

###!!! ABORT: X_SetClipRectangles: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes); 21 requests ago: file /dev/shm/portage/portage/www-client/firefox-8.0/work/mozilla-release/toolkit/xre/nsX11ErrorHandler.cpp, line 199

Segmentation fault

Hard to find the cause, I just started to google some images of rings. Sometimes the "restore session" shows the page again, until I make a mouse move, then the firefox crashes.

If you can still produce same failure with an esr build or current ~arch please feel free to reopen and update summary.
