'emerge -uvDN world' fails with:

I really have only about 8 GB free space under /var/tmp:

root@lynx:/root(4)# df /var/tmp/
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/vg1-vtmp 8388348 56072 8332276 1% /var/tmp

So far OK, but every subsequent "emerge -uvDN --resume --skipfirst world" fails with the same error:

root@lynx:/root(5)# emerge -uvDN --resume --skipfirst world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I assume that "--skipfirst" means in this case to skip the emerging of libreoffice, and therefore the disk space requirements of libreoffice should not circumvent the emerging of the remaining packages.

libreoffice is not the first package in your list. The order doesn't matter for the pkg_pretend checks, that's why it's executed anyway.

Use --exclude libreoffice to stop it from being updated.
Comment 2 Juergen Rose 2011-11-16 10:15:29 UTC
Thanks Sebastian,

'emerge -uvDN --exclude libreoffice world' works. But also 'emerge -vuND --keep-going world' does not emerge any package due to the disk space requirements of app-office/libreoffice. I suppose, that the command 'emerge -vuND --keep-going world' should emerge all packages except those, which have difficulties to emerge. It is not very convenient to exclude explicitly packages which have problems. Is it not possible, to modify the requirements for libreoffice so that it circumvents the emerging of libreoffice, if there is not enough disk space for libreoffice, but does not block the emerging of other packages?
