Description Marius Mauch (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-21 23:29:26 UTC
It seems that perl-5.8.0 is no longer available on ftp.perl.org:

# GENTOO_MIRRORS="" emerge -f perl
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-lang/perl-5.8.0-r12 to /
>>> Previously fetched file: Safe-2.09.tar.gz MD5 ;-)
>>> Downloading ftp://ftp.perl.org/pub/CPAN/src/perl-5.8.0.tar.gz
--08:25:00--  ftp://ftp.perl.org/pub/CPAN/src/perl-5.8.0.tar.gz
           => `/usr/portage/distfiles/perl-5.8.0.tar.gz'

This works fine for me. Sounds like the file just wasn't on the mirror you were using. Can you double check your mirrors and find out which one is missing the file (or give us the mirror list so we can check)?
Comment 2 Marius Mauch (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-25 13:01:09 UTC
It _is_ on the gentoo mirrors, but the actual SRC_URI on ftp.perl.org doesn't work.

Confirmed to not be available any more. Going to cc the archs on this bug until it is cleared across the board.
Comment 5 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-18 16:31:29 UTC
Sparc: We need 5.8.2 cleared for sparc. 5.8.0 is no longer valid at the SRC.
Comment 6 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-18 16:32:02 UTC
PPC: We need 5.8.2 cleared for sparc. 5.8.0 is no longer valid at the SRC.

Sorry for all the repition, folks.
Comment 9 Bartosch Pixa (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-18 16:45:26 UTC
stable on ppc for almost 2 weeks already
Comment 10 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-18 17:15:24 UTC
About the same for sparc, marked stable for a couple of weeks now.
Comment 11 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-19 04:05:15 UTC
Excluding the explitives that I just issued locally - it appears my cvs tree was completely whacked and out of sync. Sparc, PPC, my apologies.

Marius: Since 5.8.2 is now the stable, any reason to keep this open? We'll be cleaning out the old 5.8.0 ebuilds this week I suspect.
Comment 12 Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-02-21 03:33:34 UTC
Removed from tree this morning.
