Description Tejaswi Kasturi 2002-06-19 12:26:35 UTC
A new version of Netbeans has been released, and I have created a new ebuild
based on the netbeans-3.3.1.ebuild. Only things that have changed are the
tar.gz filename and where to get it. NetBeans is at http://www.netbeans.org.
I've attached the ebuild file and the digest file - it does not need anything else.

Hi guys.

Just wanted to let you know that I am processing the ebuild.

Technical part is Ok, even though the old version did not comply with somewhat
more strict requirements as of present and required few touches that I made.

The main problem though is with the licensing. Looks like user has to go to the
site and agree with that set of licenses they mention. It may be possible to
avoid this if all the licensed are OSI approved (subject to appropriate LICENSE
line in ebuild of course), however I seem to have regular problems downloading
the source and even accessing their site.
Were you guys able to wget the source at that SRC_URI? Do you know of any client
restrictions imposet on the site?
Thanks for submissions!

George

I am able to wget the file without any issues. The Netbeans.org site does go
down quite often though. I don't know of any client restrictions on getting the
source. As licenses go, some elements of the product are governed by Sun's
Binary Code License, the Apache license, the JPython license, the DynamicJava
license, and by the Sun Public license.

Hi Tejaswi.

I have updated and committed an ebuild.
It is masked for now. Please test-download the sources couple of times for me
(for some reqason this is very location dependent for me I can fetch it from one
place but not from another :().
I added a few licenses, the ones that are already in portage database. I will
add remaining licenses and update an ebuild and if you can fetch sources fine
will unmask it.

In netbeans.desktop
The line
Exec=/opt/netbeans-3.3.1/bin/runide.sh
has to be changed to 3.3.2

Hi Mark.

Thanks for testing and the report!
Corrected (actually I automated this to some extent instead).
Could you please test, so I could finally unmask it.

George

Hi George,

I've unmerged my existing 3.3.2 version and emerged your new version.
I've also unmerged and remerged the new one too.

No problems here.

The new gnome menu item plug works fine.

I can confirm it works in openbox running the latest java sdk (1.4.1-beta).
It's on ibilio now, so no need to worry about flaky downloads...

Thanks Mark and Nicholas for testing!

The ebuild is unmasked (for a few days already).
I added the rest of the licenses, closing this bug now.
