Several docbook related ebuilds use build-docbook-catalog as a tool for regenerating the catalogs in postinst section of the ebuild. If $ROOT != "/", the tool still generates catalogs in /, resulting in an invalid (no) catalog in $ROOT. Reproducible: Always
This is a problem in ChromiumOS, see http://code.google.com/p/chromium-os/issues/detail?id=18036
If you have devised a solution for this, please share. It looks like it may be as simple as prepending ${ROOT} to the variables at the top.
