The new version is now available at gcc.gnu.org. Thank you very much in advance!
I think that 4.6.2 may have http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49682 fixed for alpha.
It also fixes clang compilation. See http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49883 [Bug 387483]
I decided to try the upgrade today from 4.5.3 to 4.6.2. -) Renamed 4.6.1-r1 to 4.6.2 in my local overlay -) Downloaded the following files and also renamed them accordingly to 4.6.2: gcc-4.6.1-piepatches-v0.4.5.tar.bz2 gcc-4.6.1.tar.bz2 gcc-4.6.1-uclibc-patches-1.0.tar.bz2 -) Success! That was easy. I have yet to try out building something with it, first try will be a new kernel image.

Fixed.
Excellent! [...and that was of course gcc-4.6.1-patches-1.0.tar.bz2, not gcc-4.6.1.tar.bz2 that should have been renamed... sorry it is late already. ;)]
