Does the file exist on your computer and is it owned by the gcompris package?

"equery belongs computer.svg" and "equery check gcompris" might tell.

Please take a moment to read the Gentoo Bug Reporting Guide[1].
This bug should have been filled in the default component and not as a User Relations issue.

Comment 3 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-10-26 00:12:20 UTC
try moving aside the config directory.

It works fine for me with german, english, french...

Here's what it looks like on my box:

$ ls -l /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg
-rw-r----- 1 root games 34760 Jan 8 2011 /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg

Comment 5 Robby Klehm 2011-10-29 18:41:06 UTC
Thanks for your time and comments.
Here is what I did in order to catch the problem and supply more information
about it:

as root
- emerged gcompris once again
> qcheck gcompris
Checking games-kids/gcompris-9.6.1 ...
  * 9156 out of 9156 files are good

as user with group game
> ls -la /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg
-rw-r----- 1 root games 34760 8. Jan 2011 /usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg
> gcompris
==> leads to the attached gcompris error message

> strace gcompris > gcompris.strace 2>&1
==> leads to the attached gcompris error message too (of course)
> grep -C 3 -e computer.svg gcompris.strace
mmap2(0xb4503000, 8192, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_FIXED|MAP_DENYWRITE, 13, 0x2) = 0xb4503000
close(13) = 0
mprotect(0xb4503000, 4096, PROT_READ) = 0
access("computer.svg", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
access("/home/rklehm/My GCompris/computer.svg", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
access("/usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg", F_OK) = 0
access("/usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg", F_OK) = 0
open("/usr/share/games/gcompris/boards/computer.svg", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 13 (*)
fstat64(13, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0640, st_size=34760, ...}) = 0
mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0xb76fa000
read(13, "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UT"..., 4096) = 4096

(*) made me think, that there may be trouble with open && O_LARGEFILE on my
  32 bit system

> getconf LFS_CFLAGS
-D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
==> OK

> mount
/dev/hda6 on / type ext3 (rw,noatime,commit=0)
==> ext3 has full support for LFS

==> Because I'm not familiar with this stuff, I searched and found some
  hints at http://www.suse.de/~aj/linux_lfs.html

==> Reading this the question came up:
Is gcompris compiled using -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 ?

==> I emerged it again with a
> tail -f /var/tmp/portage/portage/games-kids/gcompris-9.6.1/temp/build.log | grep FILE_OFFSET_BITS

==> was not found.

Any help would now be nice. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Robby
Comment 6 Robby Klehm 2011-10-29 18:44:56 UTC
Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that I removed all config files
> rm -rf ~/.config/gcompris ~/My\ GCompris

before running gcompris as Mr. Bones commmented.
Comment 7 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-06 14:53:37 UTC
How does 11.09 work for you?
Comment 8 Robby Klehm 2011-11-08 20:20:21 UTC
- emerged games-kids/gcompris-11.09 worked fine
> qcheck gcompris
Checking games-kids/gcompris-11.09 ...
  * 9703 out of 9703 files are good

> rm -rf .gcompris My\ GCompris/
> gcompris
==> nice sound, well, but then ... the same issue.

Cheers,
Robby
Comment 9 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-08 21:19:44 UTC
you're really going to have to do some work on your end. I can't reproduce it here at all. How about posting the full strace output.
Comment 10 Robby Klehm 2011-11-10 18:57:43 UTC
Sure, I'll add the strace as an attachment. Here is some more information:

> qlist -UIv gtk
dev-cpp/gtkmm-2.24.0
dev-python/pygtk-2.24.0-r1
dev-util/gtk-doc-am-1.17
net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.2.7 (gstreamer jit)
x11-libs/gtk+-2.24.4 (cups introspection)

> qlist -UIv gdk-pix
x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf-2.22.1-r2 (X introspection jpeg svg tiff)

I recently updated the whole system and there are no out dated packages.
At another forum I found some hints like
- chmod 744 to *.svg (doesn't help)
- downgrading to dk-pixbuf-2.22.0 (didn't tested).
- Не работает GCompris - unixforum.org: means in doesn't run
  <http://unixforum.org/index.php?showtopic=117834>

Does this say anything to you?
If I should provide more information, please let me know.

Cheers,
Robby

Comment 12 Robby Klehm 2011-11-11 21:03:08 UTC
The solution here was the following line in the file

/etc/portage/package.use:
gnome-base/librsvg gtk

Would you like to add this to the USE dependencies in the ebuild:

  gnome-base/librsvg[gtk]

Cheers,
Robby
