The issue present in several versions of thunar. Currently using xfce-base/thunar-1.2.3 The checkbox "Enable Volume Management" is available independently on status of xfce-extra/thunar-volman. If this checkbox is set, the link Configure becomes active. Clicking on this link (whichs availability depends only on checkbox status) if xfce-extra/thunar-volman is not installed displays error. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install xfce-base/thunar (if not installed); 2. Uninstall xfce-extra/thunar-volman if installed (or do nothing); 3. Start thunar and goto Preferencies in Edit menu; 4. Enable Volume management. Actual Results: Link Config Volume Managenent becomes available. Expected Results: Without installed xfce-base/thunar the link should be inactive independently on status of Volume Management checkbox. Possibly, the checkbox itself should be fixed in disabled state. Gentoo-side suggestion: move volman functionality from separate package to thunar's use-flag. Because of volman configuration menu is available from general configuration menu of XFce4 (missing thunar) may be it will be the best solution to remove this functionality from thunar's menu: thinking if volman is installed, it's enabled (configuration is available from main menu), if it is not installed: nothing presents, neither in general configuration menu, nor in thunar's menu (volume nah, pure runtime -only dependencies don't belong in as an USE flag. it's a separate package, not part of Thunar's release cycle. you simply 'emerge thunar-volman' if you want it. if you wanted the error message to be more suggestive, like "Please, install thunar-volman." I suggest you move this to http://bugzilla.xfce.org/ instead so Thunar developers can change it.
