Quick workaround (not a real solution to the underlying bug): you can define LINGUAS in /etc/make.conf to be the list of language codes for translations and messages that you want to install.

For example, if you only need French, English, and Spanish translations, then you would set LINGUAS="fr en es" in /etc/make.conf. If the only language that you care about is English, you would set LINGUAS="en".

If LINGUAS is unset, gnome-related packages will try build *all* available translations, including the Korean translation of the gnome-terminal help file, which apparently fails to validate on your setup.
Comment 3 Ross Lagerwall 2011-10-19 13:54:06 UTC
Thanks, the workaround worked.
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-10-06 09:28:36 UTC
Is this still valid with gnome-terminal-3? In that case you should report this to upstream also
Comment 5 Ross Lagerwall 2013-01-23 16:28:47 UTC
No, it seems like gnome-terminal-3 works fine without setting LINGUAS so I'll close it as fixed.
