Description Samuel Bauer 2011-10-17 00:25:34 UTC
Gnome MPlayer is not dependent on any Gnome libraries.
But the version bump for this package adds a mandatory dependency for dconf.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gnome-mplayer

ebuild modified with dconf dependency

I'm not speaking about gconf but dconf, why marking it as duplicate.

Furthermore, when gconf isn't installed gnome-mplayer doesn't use it.

The behavior described happens when gconf is installed. But I think there is a step more to be done to disable gconf like: --disable-schemas (compile and install).

But, as gtk2 is outdated, and gtk3 should only be considered, I submit you an ebuild, letting a greater choice to the user.
Dconf shouldn't be mandatory, as said on the main page of the project, gnome-mplayer doesn't depend on gnome libs at all.

I wrote an email to the author of gnome-mplayer to ask him if keystore backend is still available.

He replied that I seemed to be confused and that the keystore backend is still supported. One can use it with the ebuild I submitted in the duplicate ebuild.

The author already said the compilation options about this should be clearer in next release (notably --enable-keystore)

Dconf isn't mandatory as the keystore backend exists for this ebuild.

Isn't gentoo policy is to let the user fine tune application at build time.
