Just found this error indicating geoip relies (or at least has a sep on) a version of PHP about to be deprecated.

Would be good to get a new geoip version going which depends on 5.3 :)

The following mask changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by dev-php5/pecl-geoip-1.0.7-r1, required by @selected, required by @world (argument)

Do you have PHP_TARGETS="5-2" in make.conf?

I don't see anything in the ebuild that indicates pecl-geoip specifically depends on php 5.2.

I did, and have now set it to 5-3, not used to version specific settings being there so didn't even think to look.

Sorry for raising this unnecessarily and thanks for the hint :)
