Description Francisco Blas Izquierdo Riera (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-10-06 16:15:57 UTC
net-libs/libpcap-1.1.1 has a bug when detecting all the devices which breaks device detection in at least wireshark when bonding is enabled. This bug has been addressed and the patch added already in net-libs/libpcap-1.1.1-r1 which has been roaming since 11/Jun/2010. Since there hasn't been a release with the patch yet there is also no reason to aim to stabilize a newer version.

Reproducible: Always

I'm actually having trouble building -r1 against dev-libs/libnl:3 since recently. No doubt this is because the patch that supposedly implements compatibility was apparently written for dev-libs/libnl-2. I have restored the old dependency on dev-libs/libnl:1.1 for now.

(Also, said patch is mysteriously named libpcap-1.1.1-libidn2.patch, while libpcap doesn't use libidn at all. Since the patch seemingly fails to prepare the sources for building against dev-libs/libnl:3, I have removed it.)

Hi,

There seem to have some problem with libpcap-1.1.1-r1 (amd64 environment).
Emerge fails with

* Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE! Value for $EPATCH_SOURCE is:
 *
 *   /usr/portage/net-libs/libpcap/files/libpcap-1.1.1-cross-linux.patch
 *   ( libpcap-1.1.1-cross-linux.patch )
 * ERROR: net-libs/libpcap-1.1.1-r1 failed (prepare phase):
 *   Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE!

Patch file in /usr/portage/net-libs/libpcap/files/ is named libpcap-1.1-cross-linux.patch, maybe a typo somewhere ?
