Description Sr. Cv. 2011-10-04 14:36:59 UTC
After recent upgrade of my system (I didin't do it for a few months) I had to rebuild transocode-1.1.5-r2 because of reverse dependency problem. It failed. I suspected ffmpeg (upgraded from 0.6-r1 to 0.7.5), so I also tried the build with ffpeg-0.7.4 with the same result.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge --complete-graph=y --oneshot media-video/transcode

Actual Results:
Build failed.

transcode-1.1.7 is building fine here with ffmpeg-0.8.7. please try with 1.1.7 and up to date system, reopen if it's still a problem.

You mean 0.7.8? I don't have 0.8.7 in portage.

OK 1.1.7 does compile. But 1.1.7 is in ~x86, thus the ebuild that is the part of the stable distribution does not build. It seems incorrect.

no, I meant 0.8.7 at the time writing that message since it was in portage. it was removed in favour of 0.9 later on.

that's normal... after package has been bumped, it normally takes 30 days for the stabilization request to be opened at least. it might fix your issue, but it might bring in new bugs too... so users need time to report bugs.

anyway, i'll open stabilization bug for transcode-1.1.7 now, it's been some weeks now. not 30 days, but enough.

I see. The transcode-1.1.7 also compiles with ffmpeg 0.7.8 (currently in x86).

I understand that stabilization needs time and bug reports, that's obvious, but the problem is to have (a stale) not building package still in stable branch of portage for quite a long time ;-)

But OK, thank you for your explanation. It works for me now.
