Cups 1.1.14 worked fine. Upgraded to 1.1.15. Configuration was the same but couldn't print. cups error_log had message Unable to convert file 0 to printable format. Looking on the Cups newgroup the program pstoraster that used to be included is not anymore and you need a patch to ghostscript or ESP GhostScript.
I can confirm this (though not confirm in bugzilla). CUPS 1.1.14-r4 works, and does not have this problem.
I can confirm this bug... No printing for me anymore. It looks like it that the filters need to be added from another ghostcript package...
What I wanted to say before (but I forgot): It is probably best to mask cups-1.1.15 intill this problem is solved.
I can confirm this problem as well. Going back to CUPS 1.1.14-r4 solved it for me. I possibly found a patch for 1.1.15 at http://www.cups.org/newsgroups.php?Gcups.development+U309+D+O151+VR It appears to address exactly this problem.
The patch in comment #4 doesn't seem to work. Continuing to look....
Emerging the latest ghostscript should fix the problem. Ick!
I can not confirm bug status as confirmed. Cups 1.1.15 is still not running with my HP880C and I have to use 1.1.14 instead.
Weird. Try "emerge -e cups" and see if that fixes the problem?
I attempted Grant's advice - emerge -e cups - and to my surprise..it worked! This fixed it. I, too, was unable to use anything but cups 1.1.14, but now I can use 1.1.15-r2 without a problem. Thanks!
Still doesn't work for me. I even tried emerge -e cups. It installs latest ghostscript. But I still get the Unable to convert file 0 error. I made sure I did an rsync before. I'm forced to downgrade the lab to 1.1.14-r4 and it works with that version with no problems.
I have latest ghostscript installed - cups 1.1.15 still won't work
I've submitted an ebuild for ghostscript-7.05.4: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6618 Can you please test it to see if it solves your problem? Thanks, -- Thomas.
ghostscript-7.05.5 has been added into portage. Please test this package with cups. All drivers have been compiled in including the optional IJS and OMNI printer drivers.
Closing for now. Thanks, raker!
