Did you check if the same happens with the version included in recent ntfs3g (if they differ) ?

There is NTFS-3G 2011.10.9-RC Release Candidate available and it fixes some bugs: ntfsundelete: try to recover the file name when undeleting ntfsundelete: use inode number to name unnamed files Probably it's worth to try and if it fixes issue backport patch.
Please retry with =sys-fs/ntfs3g-2012.1.15-r1 or above. It's now the current stable and ntfsprogs is no longer in the tree. Reopen the bug if the problem persists, or change to FIXED if fixed.
