Description LuisMi Garcia 2004-01-16 15:52:16 UTC
A few days ago, when I boot gentoo, it loads module forcedeth (open source nvidia ethernet driver). I have updated things and now it doesn't load at startup.

If I do:

modprobe forcedeth

the system runs ok.

Did you add it to the appropriate file in /etc/modules.autoload.d/?
Comment 2 LuisMi Garcia 2004-01-17 03:05:14 UTC
No, but I didn't that before, and I runned very well two weeks ago or so.

Perhaps old hotplug did this for me or something and an updated version don't do that?

The official way to autoload modules in Gentoo is to add the module name to
/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x
If it did work for you by some weird misalignment of planets, it was only a
fluke.
