Description darkseer 2011-09-26 01:33:49 UTC
dev-haskell/cairo fails to configure an build. Attached is my system configuration. Not sure if this should go here or upstream.

-darkseer

/usr/bin/pkg-config --modversion cairo-svg
/usr/bin/pkg-config --modversion cairo
setup: Missing dependency on a foreign library:
* Missing C library: cairo
This problem can usually be solved by installing the system package that
provides this library (you may need the "-dev" version). If the library is
already installed but in a non-standard location then you can use the flags
--extra-include-dirs= and --extra-lib-dirs= to specify where it is.

Please add complete build log as attachment

It would also be helpful to know what version (if any) of x11-libs/cairo you have installed.
Comment 3 darkseer 2011-10-09 13:12:12 UTC
The issue was not with cairo this can be closed. The configure was failing because GCC was not able to produce binaries. The major issue was that some upgrade succeeded but somehow interfered with GCC and bintools. I resolved the issue by creating a GCC package on another box with the correct use flags and reinstalling GCC as a binary package along with bintools. There is a bug somewhere... I'm just not sure A) What whacked GCC and B) how to reproduce.... So while there is a deficiency... I no longer have enough info to file a report :/ On the plus side I do have a solution when GCC and bintools bites it for no apparent reason.
