Never encountered any problems with it, works great at least for SOCKS.
I have net-misc/connect in use on several amd64 and x86 machines for years and never encountered any problems. The Gentoo package could get some love, though. According to [1] revision 101 seems to be the latest (see the Debian changelog.) Furthermore a small man page - e.g. the one from Debian - would be nice to have in the Gentoo ebuild. More current versions can be found here: https://bitbucket.org/gotoh/connect I, too, have used connect with no stability issues on multiple platforms, including gentoo-prefix on Interix amd64.
CC:ing arches as there was no objection against stabilization.
amd64 stable
x86 stable, last arch, closing. Thanks!
