since genkernel 3.0.X the instructions in the installguide and handbook no longer apply 100% and there is a special config needed for grub.conf

all this can be seen by typing (with the 3.0.X version)

genkernel

and 

less /usr/share/genkernel/README

Since this version of genkernel is already in portage, and users are desperately struggling this needs fixing immediately.

Hope someone finds time soon.

Please keep the good, speedy docs-development.

The special grub.conf / lilo.conf configs should already be in place:

I've committed the changes about the genkernel command itself (it seems that the recent version requires to type in "genkernel all") too.
