Same thing here. There is patch (mpd_shorter.patch) attached to this bug: http://musicpd.org/mantis/view.php?id=3353 After applying it, the issue is gone.

The last commend on the upstream bug says that this patch you are using is a workaround and a real patch will be available soon. So as a reminder to Christoph and me, we won't fix this bug until upstream fixes it first ;)

Yeah, please stop closing bugs. We'll do that as soon as it's fixed in Gentoo.
Upstream just told me that this specific bug (the one linked) was never present in the 0.16 branch, which means that the patch doesn't apply. He also mentioned other seeking issues that were present in 0.16.4 that were fixed in 0.16.5 though, so please test that version and report back here.
